Gelstat migraine is a homeopathic treatment for the relief of migraines. Gelstat contains two ingredients, and both are used for migraine relief with good success for many. Feverfew, and ginger are the main ingredients in gelstat migraine. Both have been used for hundreds of years before conventional medicines were born for headache relief. Two clinical trials were conducted on GelStat Migraine, both yielding excellent results. The first was an open label study that was performed by Roger K. Cady, M.D. and Curtis P. Schreiber, M.D., both of ClinVest, the research division of the Headache Care Center in Springfield, Missouri. The second was a double blind study performed by Dr. Sheena K. Aurora. Dr. Aurora is a co-director of the Swedish Headache Center in Seattle, a specialty headache clinic that treats more than 3,000 patients each year. She is also board-certified in neurology and electrodiagnostic medicine as well as has additional qualifications in clinical neurophysiology.

What the Gelstat Migraine review found!!!! Forty eight out of one hundred migraine sufferers were pain-free two hours after treatment of Migraine during mild pain , over eighty percent were pain-free or had only mild pain two hours after treatment. The symptoms that come with migraine were absent two hours after treatment in one half of the participants. Forty one percent preferred GelStat to the medication they had been taking, or felt Gelstat was equal to it . Four sufferers reported side effects. Three didn’t like the taste, and one experienced transient burning under the tongue.

Ok, so why is it different from advil migraine? Advil migraine is a pain reliever. It, like many more pain pills, especially over the counter just offer pain relief. That’s why they are called pain pills. But gelstat migraine is an abortive. But strangely all abortions can give rebound headaches if used to much, and this happens to many migraine sufferers. If like myself you suffer from migraines then you will know that it is a crippling condition, not just another headache as some people think, and when migrain strikes, “life stops”, as you deal with the visual disturbances, sensitivity to light, smell, sound and debilitating nausea. What makes things worse is that many of the recommended prescription remedies for migraine headaches, just don’t work.

So lets take a look at what’s available as a treatment for migraines:

Physicians often prescribe migraine medicines such as Imitrex and Advil for migraine sufferers but as I mentioned before these don’t work for everyone, may have side effects and can interact with other medications, which is the reason so many, myself included, search for a natural home remedy for migraine. However, before I talk further about these I have an area of concern that I would like to mention first.

I talk to many fellow sufferers and have noticed that there is a great deal of interest in Topomax, a treatment for migraine, which is not yet widely available on prescription. To this I say, “thank goodness”, as according to FDA warnings being sent out to physicians, it increases the risk of glaucoma and acute myopia. What worries me most about this is that you often see cheap generic Topomax advertised on websites as relief from migraine headaches. When you buy from these websites you are buying medications from another country and they can be substandard, or even potentially dangerous.

If you are skeptical about using natural cures for migraines, then there is no cause for concern as many medications originate from plants and their extracts. In fact Native Americans used willow bark to treat pain long before the drug companies purified it and turned it into aspirin, and the drug dihydroergotamine or as it is commonly known DHE, which is used to treat acute migraine headaches originated from a fungus that grows on damp rye grain.

Today herbal migraine prevention is commonplace and vitamins; minerals and herbal supplements are used to treat various health conditions including migrane. However it is necessary to remember that not all herbs and vitamins and minerals treat migraine consistently, and you will find rows upon rows of herbal remedies together with vitamins and minerals in most pharmacies, nutrition or grocery stores. Yet there are only a few of these that are an effective migraine headache remedy.

So lets take a look at a few preventative measures and natural remedies for migraines:

Migraine preventions include eating bran cereal, which is high in magnesium. This is an essential mineral that occurs naturally in nuts and whole grains, and levels are often low in the blood of those who suffer from migraine headache pain. According to research taking a 600mg magnesium supplement each morning can bring migraine relief by reducing the incidence of attacks by forty two percent and its severity by thirty four percent.

Riboflavin migraine supplementation is often combined with fewerfew in proprietary herbal remedies

Research has indicated that taking a 50mg supplement of the root extract of Butterbur twice a day for three months lessens the incidence of migraines by up to forty two percent and another study showed that it was effectual in preventing migraine.

Other vitamins and herbs, which have often relied upon for help with migraines, include peppermint oil, co-enzyme Q10, 5HTP and Melatonin. Although herbs are natural it is necessary to remember that some may have side effects, so it is wise to discuss this with your health practitioner before you start taking anything that has not been thoroughly researched.

When we mention migraine headache treatment, we open a Pandora’s box. There are different migraine treatments for different types of headaches, and some of the same migraine medications are also standard treatment for different types of migraines.

If your one of the lucky ones that has a migraine occasionally “maybe lucky wasn’t the best word to use, but many suffer every day” something as simple as Excedrin migraine or Advil migraine, with a few hours lying down in a quite room may be all you need.

But if your migraines are frequent, one a week of so, they need appropriate treatment.

First, find a headache specialist as close to your home as you can. Your probably going to a doctor or a neurologist now, “notice I said neurologist” and I hate to break the news, but all are not headache specialist.

Even headache specialist sometimes make the wrong call, and migraine sufferers still suffer. (You may be the best doctor your head knows.)

You should read, and study headache and migraines until you are quite familiar with them. Keeping something as simple as a diary may not only help you, but will be of great benefit for your doctors assessments, and treatment of your migraines and headaches.

Many migraine sufferers have something that triggers their migraines, and headaches. (Foods and beverages.) If you make a connection, you could very well have migraine relief.

If you have a mixed headache syndrome as many do, your migraine headache treatment will be preventive medicines to decrease your migraine attacks, and abortive medicine for the relief of your pain after you get your migraine.

Also diet, exercise, stress reduction, and biofeedback may help your migraine and headache attacks.

As you know, your migraine headache treatment plan can be entirely different from someone else’s.

I add this to a few of our pages. Don’t fall for the, I’ll just take a pain pill for the pain routine because you could end up with chronic daily headache. And you don’t want that.

Also, many migraine sufferers have refractory migraine headaches, these are the ones that don’t respond to the usual methods of migraine treatment. You could have a range of organic problems. Your neck (facets or disk)could be causing your headaches, or your sinuses,and a few more issues going on.

In many cases, if your only having your migraine symptoms treated, you will not find relief until the cause is found. This is where the best headache specialist will prevail.

(Migraine headache treatment guidelines regarding acute treatment of migraine have been issued by the U.S. Headache Consortium. The majority of the evidence on which these guidelines are based was developed in clinical trials that excluded people that had refractory or chronic migraine. And for this reason, acute treatment decisions in refractory migraine involve a substantial amount of expert, clinical judgement because the high quality evidence needed to guide therapy does not yet exist.)

In other words this is where you have to find the best for your migraine help, if you have an ”unmanageable” refractory migraine headache.

Your migraine headache treatment could range from Advil for mild headaches to topamax, maybe a antidepressant, to blood pressure medicine for a preventive migraine treatment plan.”This is just an example.”

Abortives, such as the class of Triptans for a migraine in progress, are given to many migraine sufferers.

Even some type of migraine surgery for an organic problem that is causing your pain will help many.

If your one of the 28,000,000 migraine sufferers in the USA alone that can find the cause of your migraines, your migraine treatment will be much easier. And as we said above, some headache specialist will shoot for the cause of your migraines and headaches, where as many doctors will treat with the tested, and tried methods of migraine treatments that may not give you more than temporary relief.
